Police last week arrested a 38-year-old Stratford man by warrant and charged him with second-degree harassment.
A complaint had been lodged May 18, 2021 regarding the man’s harassment of a victim.
Police obtained an arrest warrant on the misdemeanor charge and took custody of him at about 8:55 p.m. on March 18.
Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree harassment if he or she “with intent to harass, terrorize or alarm another person, and for no legitimate purpose” sends a text, email or other such digital communication “in a manner likely to cause terror, intimidation or alarm.”
It isn’t clear what the man sent to the victim, what type of communication it was or how he’s related to the victim. Police withheld details, saying it’s a domestic matter.
He was released after promising to appear Monday in state Superior Court. He has not yet pleaded and is scheduled to appear again May 9, court records show.
