Police on Tuesday arrested a 47-year-old Indianapolis man by warrant and charged him with three counts of second-degree harassment.

On Aug. 22 and Sept. 1, police received complaints of harassment from two different victims, officials said.

Following an investigation, authorities secured arrest warrants on the misdemeanor charge.

Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree harassment if he or she “by telephone, he addresses another in or uses indecent or obscene language” or “with intent to harass, annoy or alarm another person, he communicates with a person by telegraph or mail, by electronically transmitting a facsimile through connection with a telephone network, by computer network … or by any other form of written communication, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm,” among other reasons.

Police took custody of the man at state Superior Court in Stamford. He was held on $20,000 bond and scheduled to appear Oct. 31.

The same man had been arrested twice in 2017 on motor vehicle-related charges, by New Canaan and Norwalk Police, Connecticut Judicial Branch records show.
