Police on Friday arrested a 43-year-old North Easton, Mass. woman by warrant and charged her with second-degree harassment and second-degree threatening.
On Feb. 15, officers received a complaint from a victim about harassing and threatening voicemail messages, according to a police report.
The phone calls were from a caller who was unknown to the victim at the time, the report said.
Following an investigation, police identified the woman as one who had left the messages, it said.
A warrant was secured for her arrest on the charges. The harassment charge can be a misdemeanor or felony, according to state law. It happens when someone “[b]y physical threat … intentionally places or attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury” or “such person threatens to commit any crime of violence with the intent to terrorize another person,” among other reasons.
The woman turned herself in to police at about 5:45 p.m. on April 22, the report said. She was released on $10,000 bond and scheduled to a appear May 4 in state Superior Court.
