For today’s Q&A with a local business owner, we hear from Toni Esposito of Salon 5 East. The East Avenue salon recently was allowed to reopen, as per the state.
Here’s our exchange.
You got the green light to open recently after weeks of forced closure, as per the governor’s order. How are you doing?
Toni Esposito: Since getting the green light to open, we have been doing well. We are committed to providing a safe and clean environment for our staff and our clients. We are grateful that we are in business again and everyone feels secure with our sanitizing protocols.
What has the response and demand been like from Salon 5 East clients?
The response and demand has been great and they couldn’t wait to visit us and see us again. We were just as excited to see them as well, and to make our clients feel good and happy again, while following the social distancing requirements.
How is the experience different at Salon 5 East with these restrictions?
The experience is certainly different when your job requires hands on. However, with a little patience and a desire to keep everyone safe you adjust accordingly.
Being a business owner downtown, what is your observation of people’s compliance with the public health guidelines—social distancing, wearing masks, and so on?
I feel that the New Canaan community has done a great job with following the public health guidelines. We are fortunate that everyone we have interacted with has followed the rules above and beyond.
What is your message to clients?
Our message to our clients is that we have missed you, and we look forward to serving you and your families again. We will get through this together with the support of each other.
