Police on Sunday night arrested a 46-year-old Trumbull man and charged him with driving under the influence following a car crash.
At about 10:25 p.m. on Oct. 12, officers responded to the area of 13 Oenoke Ridge (the bend) on a report of a single-car crash, police said.
There, officers found the vehicle off of the southbound shoulder of Oenoke, crashed into a stone wall, according to a police report.
Police smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, the report said.
After conducting field sobriety tests, police transported the man to police headquarters and charged him with the misdemeanor offense, it said. He refused to undergo a breath test to establish his blood-alcohol level, it said.
Police additionally cited the man for failure to drive right. He was released on $300 bond and scheduled to appear Oct. 22 in state Superior Court.
13 Oenoke Ridge is the campus of the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society. Fortunately no one was hurt, but the stone wall along Oenoke has extensive, expensive damage. There are tire tracks up on the lawn and bits of the car as well. I wish someone had notified the Museum.
