Police on Thursday arrested a 45-year-old Stamford man by warrant and charged him with two counts of criminal violation of a protective order, a felony offense.

On Jan. 22, police received a complaint from the victim that the man had violated the existing protective order twice through harassment, officials said.

Following an investigation, officers determined that the man had harassed the victim on two occasions and obtained a warrant for his arrest, according to a police report.

He turned himself in around 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 14.

It’s unclear whether or how the man is related to the victim, what led to the protective order’s issuance, when it was issued, what its conditions are or how the man harassed the victim. Police withheld details, saying it’s a domestic matter.

The man was charged with violating a provision of the state law by “threatening, harassing, assaulting, molesting, sexually assaulting or attacking a person.”

He was released on $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear Friday in state Superior Court.
