Manuela “Nell” Tugman, longtime New Canaan resident and St. Aloysius parishioner, passed away peacefully at her home in Granger, Indiana, surrounded by her family on Monday, March 4, 2024 at the age of 87.
She was born on July 22, 1936 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to the late Nabor and Maria (Paramo) Guzman.
Manuela will be forever cherished by her husband, John; their children, Lisa (Trent) Grocock, Tanya (Bill) Porterfield, and Matthew (Danette) Tugman; grandchildren: Lauren, Justin, Samantha, Lilly, Peyton, Madison, Matthew, Hannah, Tanner, Brandon and Chris; great-grandchildren, Everleigh and Addison; brothers, Raymond (Liz) Guzman and Frank Guzman; sister, Liz (Steve) McCarthy; and her huge extended family. Of all the names she was called through her lifetime: “Hon”, Mom, Manuela, Nell, Tia, and Nana, it was the last 28 years as “Nana” that delighted her most.
