John Barlosky, 31, a Greenwich High School graduate and certified EMT, and Ryan Mero, 38, an Avon Old Farms High School graduate who earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Saint Michael’s College, will be sworn in Thursday at Town Hall.

“Both candidates participated in the fall 2023 recruitment process for Police Officer with the New Canaan Police Department,” NCPD said in a press release. “They were two of over 80 candidates that submitted eligible applications for employment. They both successfully endured an intensive testing and selection process including a written examination, physical agility testing, interview panel, polygraph, psychological evaluation, background investigation, medical testing, and Police Commission interview.”

Barlosky, who is married, worked in the music and entertainment industry for several years and is self-employed as a musician, singer, and entertainer in his own company, the press release said. He resides in Stratford.

Mero, a West Harrison, N.Y.  resident who is single, has held several corporate positions, police said.

They’re expected to graduate from the Connecticut Police Academy in July, the press release said. At that point they’ll undergo at least 400 hours of field training with NCPD before certification as probationary police officers, it said.
