Police on Sunday arrested a 49-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with three counts of third-degree assault and three counts of disorderly conduct.
At about 9:27 p.m. on Dec. 17, officers responded to a Sleepy Hollow Road home on a report of dispute between the man and a victim, police said.
There, officers established probable cause and placed the man under arrest on the misdemeanor charges, the report said.
Under state law, a person commits third-degree assault if he or she “[w]ith intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person; or (2) he recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person; or (3) with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon.”
Police processed the man at headquarters.
It isn’t clear whether or how the man is related to the victim or how he injured that person. Police withheld details, saying it was a domestic matter.
The man was released on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear Monday in state Superior Court.
