$5The New Canaan Museum & Historical Society welcomes ArtScapades with a lecture that ties in with their current exhibition.
ArtScapades will look at the lives and works of three African American artists who worked during the early 20th century, the time of the Great Migration out of the South. Horace Pippin, Archibald John Motley Jr., and Aaron Douglas were of the beginnings of an intellectual and cultural renaissance of African American art, music, dance, fashion, literature, theater, and politics centered in Harlem which spanned the 1920s and 1930s.
