Police on Tuesday night arrested a 47-year-old Westport man by warrant and charged him with second-degree threatening.

At about 4:25 p.m. on Jan. 30, police took a complaint of a domestic incident that occurred between the man and a victim, officials said.

They obtained an arrest warrant after conducting an investigation, according to a police report.

The man turned himself in at about 9 p.m. Tuesday, the report said.

It isn’t clear whether or how the man is threatened to the victim, where in New Canaan the dispute occurred, how it started, what threats were made or how. Police withheld details, saying it was a domestic incident.

Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree threatening when “by physical threat, such person intentionally places or attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury,” or “threatens to commit any crime of violence with the intent to terrorize another person.”

Police released the man on $25,000 bond and scheduled him to appear Wednesday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
