Police last week arrested a 29-year-old Bridgeport man by warrant and charged him with second-degree identity theft and fourth-degree larceny.

On Aug. 2 and 22, police said, NCPD received complaints regarding identity thefts involving patients at a residential treatment facility located in New Canaan.

An employee at the facility emerged as a suspect in what amounted to a more than $2,500 total loss for both victims, according to a police report.

New Canaan Police investigators identified the Bridgeport man as an employee there at the time of both thefts, the report said.

He used the stolen funds to pay bills with Southern Connecticut Gas at a Bridgeport home, it said.

The man turned himself in at 1:05 p.m. on Sept. 8 on an arrest warrant. Police released him after promising to appear Sept. 22 in state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
