Police at 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 5 received a report of a raccoon lying in the main baseball field at Mead Park.

Arriving, police found that the raccoon appeared healthy and had no problems, according to Animal Control Officer Maryann Kleinschmitt.

“We had no issue and it moved along,” she said.

On 1:57 p.m. on Oct. 4, police received a call of a large turtle in the roadway near 19 Vitti St. downtown—not far from where a rarely seen “alligator turtle” last month stopped traffic on East Avenue.

The reptile was moved out of the roadway and put on the side of the road, hopefully facing the way it was headed, police said.

Police at 11:24 a.m. on Oct. 2 received a report of a fox in the area of Carter Street and Long Lots Road, Kleinschmitt said.

No people or domestic pets had contact with the animal, she said. Police now and again come across a sick fox that needs to be put down.
