Stamford Health is planning a substantial building project at 36 Grove St., a building that already serves as doctors’ offices for several affiliated physicians.

A $1.2 million project will see the creation of five new primary care offices and 10 exam rooms, as well as four OBGYN offices and six exam rooms with one ultrasound room, according to an application filed March 23 with the New Canaan Building Department.

The 7,000 square feet of new construction will also include new support space for staff with a reception area and waiting room, the application said.

The architect on the job is Stamford-based Marinelli Architects & Planners, it said.

According to signage inside the building, it is currently home to three primary care physicians, a cardiologist, an endocrinologist and a rheumatologist.

There also are signs inside the building for RFE Investment Partners and CSC Sugar, LLC.

Reached by NewCanaanite.com, Stamford Health Senior Vice President and COO Liz Longmore said in a statement, “We are continuously evaluating how we can provide expert, compassionate care to our patients throughout lower Fairfield County. One way we expand access to care is by increasing our ambulatory and outpatient locations and services. We look forward to expanding our capacity to serve patients in New Canaan with additional primary care and OBGYN services.”

The half-acre property since 2011 has been owned by a limited liability company whose principal is listed in state records as Stamford Hospital.
