Darien Sinks New Canaan Lax 13-7 in FCIAC Semifinal

Only 17 days ago, the New Canaan boys lacrosse team put together one of its best games of the season against arch-rival Darien, culminating in a 9-8, heart-stopping victory for the Rams. The win ended the Blue Wave’s 34-game winning streak dating all the way back to 2013. Tuesday night at Jack Casagrande Field in Norwalk, Darien got its revenge. Behind Colin Minicus’ four goals (three in the first quarter) and goaltender Ryan Cornell’s 11 saves, the No. 3  Blue Wave knocked off No. 2 seed New Canaan 13-7 in the FCIAC semifinals.

Despite sophomore Tyler Hill’s two-goal, two-assist performance, the New Canaan Rams boys hockey team fell to Notre Dame Fairfield  6-4 Wednesday at the Milford Ice Pavilion. New Canaan led 2-1 after one period and extended its lead to 3-1 early in the second. The Lancers scored two unanswered goals in the second period to tie the game, and pulled ahead 4-3 early in third with another goal. New Canaan junior Kyle Mettler’s third period goal evened things up for the Rams at 4-4 before the Lancers scored the eventual game-winner with 3:40 left to play. Notre Dame added an empty-netter to cap the scoring at 6-4.

New Canaan Skates Past Fairfield in Double OT, Advances to FCIAC Semis

Parker Lewis scored a goal in double overtime to give the New Canaan Rams a dramatic 3-2 win over the Fairfield Mustangs in FCIAC quarterfinals at Terry Conners Rink in Stamford. New Canaan–ranked No. 3 coming into the tournament–overcame a 2-0 deficit to the sixth-seeded Mustangs en route to the win, setting up a dream semifinal matchup against the No. 2 seed–arch-rival Darien on Wednesday.
