New Construction Coming to Ponus Ridge

The New Canaan Building Department on May 16 approved an application to construct a 3,948-square-foot home at the corner of Ponus Ridge and Adams Lane. The five-bedroom house planned for 295 Ponus Ridge will include five full bathrooms and one half-bath, as well as a finished three-car garage and 2,069-square-foot basement, according to the permit. It will cost about $1.4 million to build, the permit said. The contractor on the job is New Canaan-based IJ Development Co., LLC, the architect Rodger Braley Architects of Newtown, it said. The 1.36-acre property had been purchased in August 2023 for $1,050,000, tax records show.

New Construction Coming to Ponus Ridge

The New Canaan Building Department on April 19 approved a permit to construct a new 6,150-square-foot home on a vacant lot on Ponus Ridge. The six-bedroom house at 1041 Ponus Ridge will include seven bathrooms, two half-baths, a finished 1,900-square-foot basement and three-bay garage, according to the permit. It will cost about $1,850,000 to build, the permit said. The contractor on the job is New Canaan-based 5K Development LLC, the architect Michael Smith Architects of Norwalk. The vacant 2.3-acre lot was purchased in February 2023 for $1.2 million, tax records show.

New Construction Planned for Carter Street

The New Canaan Building Department this month issued a permit for a new 6,100-square-foot house on Carter Street. The five-bedroom home planned for 197 Carter St. will include six full bathrooms and one half-bath, according to the permit, issued April 17. It will have a three-car attached garage and an attic with the fifth bedroom, bathroom and playroom, the permit said. It will cost an estimated $1.3 million to build.

New Construction Coming to Overlook Drive

The New Canaan Building Department this month issued a permit for a 5,200-square-foot home on Overlook Drive. The six-bedroom house planned for 131 Overlook Drive will include five full bathrooms, two half-baths and a 2,096-square-foot finished basement, according to the permit, issued April 5. It will have three fireplaces, 754-square-foot finished attic and three-bay garage, the permit said. The house will cost an estimated $1.2 million to build, it said. The contractor on the job is Stamford-based Dominic Altamura, according to the permit.

New Construction Coming to Carter Street

The New Canaan Building Department has issued a permit for a new 6,397-square-foot house on Carter Street. The new home at 250 Carter St. will include five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and one half-bath, according to a building permit issued March 12. 

It will be located on what tax records show as a vacant 2-acre parcel near the intersection of Carter and Clapboard Hill Road. Its owner acquired the property in 2014, tax records show, and owns an adjacent lot. 

The new house will have a 915-square-foot finished attic and three-car garage. It will cost $1.2 million to build, according to the permit.
