New Construction Coming to Carter Street

The New Canaan Building Department has issued a permit for a new 6,397-square-foot house on Carter Street. The new home at 250 Carter St. will include five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and one half-bath, according to a building permit issued March 12. 

It will be located on what tax records show as a vacant 2-acre parcel near the intersection of Carter and Clapboard Hill Road. Its owner acquired the property in 2014, tax records show, and owns an adjacent lot. 

The new house will have a 915-square-foot finished attic and three-car garage. It will cost $1.2 million to build, according to the permit.

New Construction Planned for Smith Ridge Road

The Building Department last month received an application to build a 5,560-square-foot house in northeastern New Canaan. The six-bedroom home planned for 639 Smith Ridge Road will include six full bathrooms and three half-baths, according to a building permit application filed Nov. 3. 

The house will include 15 total rooms and a three-car garage, the application said. It will cost about $2.3 million to build, it said. 

The contractor on the job is Fox Hill Construction Inc. of Bridgeport, the architect Pagliaro Architects of Darien. The 4.03-acre property was purchased in February 2022 for $1,825,000, tax records show.

New Construction Planned for Knapp Lane

The New Canaan Building Department last week received an application to build a new house on Knapp Lane. The three-bedroom, 3,300-square-foot house planned for 29 Knapp Lane will include three bedrooms, three full bathrooms and two half-baths, according to a building permit application filed Oct. 2. It will include 16 total rooms, a two-car garage and 430-square-foot covered deck, the application said. The house will cost about $950,000 to build, it said.

New Construction Planned for Benedict Hill Road

The New Canaan Building Department on Sept. 22 received an application for a new house in the northeastern corner of town. The five-bedroom, 5,500-square-foot house planned for 240 Benedict Hill Road will include five full bathrooms, one half-bath, one fireplace and a five-car garage, according to the building permit application. 

It will cost about $800,000 to build, the application said. The contractor on the job is Mariusz Lukasik of Glendale, N.Y., the architect Chris Teeter of New York, N.Y., it said. The 2.62-acre property was sold for $750,000 in April, tax records show.

New Construction Planned for Skyview Lane

The New Canaan Building Department last week received an application for a 4,425-square-foot house on Skyview Lane. The four-bedroom home planned for 49 Skyview Lane will include three full bathrooms, a half-bath and 3-bay garage, as well as a 2,959-square-foot unfinished basement, according to the building permit application filed Sept. 4. 

It will cost about $2 million to build, the application said. The contractor on the job is Greenwich-based Hemingway Construction Corp, it said, the architect Burr Salvatore Architects of Darien. The 1.65-acre property was purchased in May for $1,950,000, tax records show.
