Two Dogs Bite Humans in New Canaan

A pair of New Canaan dogs completed quarantines this week after biting humans in December.

On Dec. 19, a leashed 18-month-old male Maltese bit a pet store worker in the leg while his owner perused the aisles, according to a police report. The attack amounted to a bruise and some scratches, though the victim did go to an urgent care facility for treatment, the report said. The dog’s vaccines were up-to-date and the state-mandated 14-day quarantine is over.

The following day, Dec. 20, a miniature Labradoodle bit the hand of a man who was trying to put a leash on the roaming animal, according to a police report.

The animal had got off its property on Greenwood Lane and one of the neighbors recognized the dog and went to secure it in order to return the animal to its owner. The 9-year-old neutered dog bit him in the left hand, causing minor injuries.

The dog’s vaccinations were all up-to-date and the animal underwent his two-week quarantine at home.
