In addition, Town Hall is delaying its opening until 10 a.m. and New Canaan Library to 11 a.m., officials said.

In issuing its Winter Storm Warning for the area, the National Weather Service noted that temperatures will remain below freezing in the morning and said that “travel could be very difficult.”

  1. I have a bone to pick with the town Highway Department.

I live on a cul-de-sac atop one of the town’s highest elevations, and am used to getting a little more snow and being among the later streets to be plowed.
I woke up shortly after 6 AM today to inspect the winter wonderland and was surprised to see a strip of blacktop on the street. A plow came by for a second pass at about 7:30, leaving the road mostly clear.

My complaint – I was hoping to have a legitimate reason to leave for work a couple of hours later than usual. Thanks to the speedy and thorough work of the Highway Department I had no excuse!
