Police after midnight Friday arrested a 35-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with driving under the influence.
At about 2:11 a.m. on Feb. 21, officers responded to the area of Canoe Hill Road between Route 123 and Rosebrook Road on a report of an abandoned 911 call, police said.
Arriving officers found a vehicle that had crashed into a utility police, according to a police report.
Officers identified the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle and, on speaking to him, smelled alcohol on his breath among other signs of impairment, the report said.
After administering field sobriety tests, police placed the man under arrest on the misdemeanor charge, it said.
During processing, the man refused to provide a breath sample to establish his blood-alcohol level, it said.
He was additionally cited for failure to drive in the proper lane.
Police released the man on $300 bond and scheduled him to appear March 6 in state Superior Court.
