Police on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old man by warrant in connection with an incident that had occurred this summer at the New Canaan YMCA.
On July 9, a Thursday, officers took a complaint from the victim of a domestic dispute that had occurred at the South Avenue organization, according to a police report.
Following an investigation, police obtained a warrant for the misdemeanor charge for the man, a New Rochelle, N.Y. resident.
It wasn’t clear what the dispute involved, how it turned physical, whether the arrested man is related to the victim or what were the extent of injuries. Police declined to provide details, calling it a domestic matter.
A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon.”
Police arrested the man at about 11:15 a.m. on Sept. 30. He was released on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear Thursday in state Superior Court in Stamford.
