Police on Monday morning arrested a 26-year-old Forest Street man following a dispute at his home.

At about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 3, officers were dispatched to the residence following a report of an assault involving two people, police said.

There, officers found the man on the porch and, following an investigation, determined that he had punched the victim in the face after an argument, according to a police report.

Police charged him with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief.

It isn’t clear what caused the argument, whether the arrested man is related to the victim or what was the extent of the victim’s injuries. Police withheld details, saying it was a domestic incident.

A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon.”

The man was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Tuesday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
