Police before dawn Friday arrested a 48-year-old Darien man and charged him with driving under the influence.
At about 2:04 a.m on Oct. 8, an officer working a construction detail and another on patrol saw a motorist disobey a road closure sign and enter an active work zone, according to a police report.
During a subsequent stop, the officers noticed signs of impairment in the driver, the report said.
The man was taken to headquarters on the misdemeanor charge, as well as a citation for failure to comply with a state Department of Transportation traffic control sign. There, he refused to provide a sample to establish his blood-alcohol level, the report said.
He was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Nov. 5 in state Superior Court.
