Police on Monday arrested a 64-year-old Oenoke Ridge man by warrant and charged him with driving under the influence.

At about 12:29 a.m. on Dec. 30, officers were distanced to the area of Oenoke Ridge near Lukes Wood Road on a report of a single-car crash, police said.

There, officers found a silver Audi SUV off the road in the woods, according to a police report. It had struck a guardrail and crashed into a tree, the report said.

Police identified the man as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, it said. On speaking to him, investigating officers smelled alcohol and found the man to be slurring his speech, the report said.

The man was transported to Norwalk Hospital by New Canaan Emergency Medical Services for evaluation, the report said.

Following an investigation, police secured a warrant for the man’s arrest on the misdemeanor DUI charge, as well as a citation for failure to drive right.

He turned himself in at about 2:15 p.m. on March 7. Police released the man after he promised to appear March 17 in state Superior Court.
