Gerald. P. Dulski, 81, of New Canaan, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The family extends sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Stamford Hospital who provided exemplary and attentive care in his last days, as well as his caregiver Nutchari Seepomma, whose dedication to his health and comfort in the last year is immeasurable.
A New Canaan resident of 37 years, Gerald was born on August 6, 1944 in Stamford, CT, where he attended Holy Name of Jesus grammar school. He graduated from Stamford Catholic High School in 1963 where he was an All-American football player, playing both offensive and defensive positions. He received his B.S.B.A from American International College (Springfield, MA) in 1967, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and played four years of college football on scholarship. He received his MBA from St. John’s University (New York, NY).
After beginning his finance career at Dean Witter in New York City while living in Norwalk, CT, life took Gerald to Pensacola, FL in the 1970s with his first wife Lydia and his two young daughters Tracy and Kerri, originally to work with his father Stanley in real estate development. After his father’s illness scuttled the projects, Gerald found success starting his own business in the roughneck equipment hauling industry.
In 1980 he moved back to Rocky Hill, CT, where he rebooted his financial career at Connecticut Bank and Trust in Hartford. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, his wife of 41 years, Joan. They were married on June 7, 1985. His career quickly advanced in the “wild west” of 1980s municipal bond trading, moving to Advest and rising to the position of regional sales director, overseeing 1500 salesmen and millions in trading authority. In 1988 his career moved from Hartford to New York City, and he moved to New Canaan in 1989 with his wife Joan and their young son Jay. Gerald then joined Eurobrokers Maxcor in 1994 to work with his brother Walter Dulski, starting a proprietary municipal bond trading group in Stamford for the firm, acting as the securities principal. He remained at Maxcor for the next 10 years, narrowly missing the 9/11 terrorist attacks for a doctor’s appointment. The thoughts and prayers of the Dulski family have been and will always be with the families of the 65 Eurobrokers employees who lost their lives in the attacks, as well as the thousands of other victims. Gerald retired from Maxcor in 2004 after the company closed their proprietary trading in anticipation of an eventual sale to the Cantor Fitzgerald spinoff BG Global.
Gerald was a lover of the outdoors ever since his time as a game warden with his older brother Stanley in high school and college at the Mianus River Gorge in Bedford, NY, the birthplace of the Nature Conservancy. He was an avid fisherman and shared many fond memories with his son Jay, whether hiking at the Gorge, camping out with the Indian Guides and Boy Scouts, catching snapper blues at Cummins Park, or trout fishing in the New Canaan annual derby.
Gerald was also a talented singer, first tenor, singing for 10 years side by side with his son Jay in the choir at St. Aloysius in New Canaan under director and dear friend David Thomas. He continued his singing in his retirement, singing with the Mendelsohn Chorus of Fairfield at Carnegie Hall and the Gentleman Songsters of New Canaan. Gerald also created many fond memories vacationing with his family for many years in Jupiter, FL and Wolfeboro, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Though he showed unyielding tenacity on the football field and on the trading desk, Gerald was above all else a faithful, kind, generous, and good man, always with a smile or a joke even when illness could have easily stolen the joy he carried with him always. He was a loving son, father, husband, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a sincere friend to many.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Joan Dulski of New Canaan, CT, his son Jay of Westport, CT, his daughter-in-law Monica, and grandchildren Luke, Sonia, and Emilia; his daughter Kerri Fields of Pace, FL, his grandson Joshua enlisted in the USAF, his granddaughter Ashley Owens, her husband Samuel, and his great-granddaughter Harper; his brother Stanley and wife Mary Anne of Silver Spring, MD, and their children Mary Margaret, Michael, Mark and their families; his sister-in-law Judith Dulski of Stamford, CT, and his nephews John, Jared, Stephen and their families; his brother Paul and wife Debra of Middletown, DE; and many extended family members. He is predeceased by his parents Stanley and Laura Dulski, his brother Walter Dulski, and his daughter Tracy Harris.
The family will host visiting hours at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, CT from 5-7pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with a funeral mass to be held the following day, Thursday, August 13, at 11am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 325 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memoriam to Holy Name of Jesus Church.
