Police last week arrested a 59-year-old Bronx, N.Y. man by warrant and charged him with third-degree identity theft, a felony offense, fourth-degree larceny and two counts of third-degree forgery.

Local authorities took custody of the man Nov. 29 in connection with a check fraud investigation launched in October 2022, officials said.

He was transported back to police headquarters and processed. Under state law, a person commits identity theft when he or she “knowingly uses personal identifying information of another person to obtain or attempt to obtain money, credit, goods, services, property or medical information without the consent of such other person.”

He was held on $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear the following day in state Superior Court.

According to Connecticut Judicial Branch records, the man has not yet pleaded and is scheduled to appear Feb. 6. He’s being represented by the public defender, court records show.
