Two kittens picked up downtown this month will be made available for adoption through the Animal Control section of the New Canaan Police Department.

Residents of Locust Avenue came across a cat and her four kittens on July 11 and decided to capture the animals to head off any problems because they have dogs on the same property, according to Officer Allyson Halm, head of Animal Control.
The residents were able to collect three of the kittens but the mom got away with the fourth, Halm said. She then put out a trap to bring them in.
Of the kittens cared for at the NCPD shelter at Lakeview Avenue, she said: “These guys are pretty feral.”
One of the kittens proved especially difficult to handle, she said. He’s going to Just Cats, a full-service veterinary hospital in Stamford that’s dedicated to felines.
The two remaining kittens now are about two months old and they have “come around nicely,” she said. A silver tabby female and brown male, the kittens do not need to be adopted out together, Halm said.
