I am writing about the dangerous intersection at Route 123 and Canoe Hill Road. We had yet another serious multi-car accident there one evening this week.  I think over the last 10 or 15 years there have been a couple of fatalities there.  People consistently go over the speed limit, making a left out of Canoe Hill especially challenging.  I think the Town should look at ways to lower the risk, whether it’s a light, roundabout, or something else.  We are residents of the area, and increasingly try to avoid this intersection.

On Friday, May 16th at midnight, the New Canaan High School Parent Faculty Association welcomed over 400 students from the Class of 2025 to Waveny House. The students were invited, free of charge, to attend “Post Prom,” a late-night party with games, entertainment, food, and prizes – a beloved New Canaan tradition since 1959.

A dedicated group of parents worked tirelessly to organize this year’s event, and to keep the theme, “Seasons Finale,” a secret until the moment the students arrived. Waveny House was transformed into a celebration of winter, spring, summer, and fall. New Canaan High School seniors filled almost every room of the building until morning, celebrating their shared past and exciting futures.

This incredible experience was made possible by the support of our entire New Canaan High School community and the Town of New Canaan. Thank you to Principal Bill Egan and the NCHS faculty and staff; the New Canaan Police Department, and the New Canaan Recreation Department.

We are deeply grateful to the many generous sponsors whose monetary contributions made it possible for every senior to attend Post Prom without any admission charge, ticket, or RSVP. The financial support of these sponsors was instrumental in making this event a reality, and underscores the strength of our community.

  1. Having been raised nearby, I have repeatedly mentioned this extremely important intersection to deaf ears. I attended The Little Red School house, South, NCHS 65, rode at New Canaan Mounted Troop knew owner Margaret Self. In my lifetime this issue has repeatedly been addressed. Why has NC ignored this important intersection?
