Police last week arrested a 57-year-old Stamford man and charged him with smoking marijuana while driving.
At about 4:27 p.m. on Dec. 22, an officer on patrol smelled marijuana coming from inside a car, according to a police report.
The officer saw the driver throw what looked like a cigarette out the window, the report said.
Both of the vehicle’s brake lights were defective, and the officer stopped the vehicle at Old Stamford Road and Park Place, it said. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana while driving, it said.
The man was charged with the misdemeanor offense, and was cited for the improper signal light.
He was released after promising to appear Jan. 4 in state Superior Court.
