The New Canaan Rams football team comes into Thursday’s Turkey Bowl at 9-0, ranked No. 1 in the state.

The Rams have already clinched a Class L Playoff berth and a home game in the quarterfinals. Darien is 6-3 and needs to win on Thanksgiving to guarantee a playoff spot. If the Blue Wave loses, Darien might not make the state playoffs depending on what other contending Class L teams do on Thursday.

All three of Darien‘s losses came against teams that New Canaan defeated this year—St. Joe’s, Greenwich and Staples.

Kickoff for the Turkey Bowl is 10 a.m. on Nov. 27 at Dunning Stadium.

In a “game day guide” issued this week, New Canaan High School Athletic Director Jay Egan noted that advanced tickets for the game—which can be purchased here— “are limited and expected to sell out.”

“There will be no ticket sales at the gate on the day of the game,” according to the guide. “All tickets must be purchased in advance.”

The game guide also included these notes:

Travel & Parking

Spectators should anticipate heavy traffic and are strongly advised to allow extra time for arrival.

  • New Canaan Fans:
    • Recommended Route: Enter via the main entrance of New Canaan High School.
    • Overflow Parking: Available at South Elementary School.
  • Disabled Parking: A limited number of spaces are available by permit on a first-come, first-served basis.

Important Policies & Enforcement

  • Parking Regulations: Designated tow-away zones will be strictly enforced. Vehicles parked illegally, especially those blocking access for emergency vehicles, will be towed at the owner’s expense.
  • Prohibited Items: For public safety, spectators are not permitted to bring backpacks, coolers, or bottles into the stadium.
  • No spectators will be allowed on the field at the conclusion of the game. We will be presenting individual and team awards and want to preserve a safe environment

“We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to an exciting Turkey Bowl Game,” Egan said in the game guide.
