In this 2-day workshop on West Afrikan Puppetry, students will make masks using recycled materials, each with a personality that will become a character in the final presentation on Sunday at 2pm. The major difference between West Afrikan puppetry and the westernized idea of puppetry is YOU become the puppet instead of operating the puppet. Big Bird from Sesame Street is an example of West Afrikan Puppetry. A person puts on the costume or “Puppet” and now becomes something else. 15 spots are available for students 7 – 18 years old.
