The magic of The Nutcracker ballet comes to New Canaan Library when The New England Academy of Dance (NEAD) presents a performance featuring dancers from the company as well as professionals from New York City. Under the direction of Frances Ortiz, Ginna Ortiz, and Ted Thomas, this educational, family-friendly event includes a reading of The Nutcracker book by the Sugar Plum Fairy, followed by a performance of the ballet. Other characters from The Nutcracker, Clara and the Snow Queen, will teach children from the audience a dance from the ballet. The demonstration is ideal for children ages five through ten, but all are welcome.
