Original Story

New Canaan Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a dog owner.

On Tuesday afternoon, the man’s dog was involved in an incident on Main Street and police want to contact him, according to a press bulletin issued by Animal Control Officer Sean Godejohn.

It wasn’t immediately clear what the incident involved. Police said only that they’re interested in speaking to the dog’s owner.

The incident took place at about 12:15 p.m. near the library and police believe the dog’s owner may live on Main Street, Godejohn said.

The dog itself appears to be a medium-sized black shepherd with some white on its chest, he said.

Godejohn reminded residents that it’s important not only to have dogs leashed when out and about, as per local ordinance, but also to have dogs under control.

“And never approach a dog that you know nothing about,” he said.

Anyone that has an idea of where the dog may reside or whom the dog owner is asked to please contact New Canaan Animal Control at 203-594-3510.
