New Canaan Registrars Announce Plans for Tuesday August 17, 2021 Special Election for State Senate District 36 (New Canaan District 1) Election to Fill the Unexpired Term of State Sen. Alex Kasser

There will be a Special Election on Tuesday August 17, 2021 to fill the unexpired term of State Senator Alex Kasser, who resigned June 22nd. Voting will be in the New Canaan High School gym from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Absentee ballots, both in-person or by mail, are available to all eligible voters in District One. Senate District includes Greenwich, North Stamford, and Western New Canaan. No other offices are on the ballot.

Only those voters in NC Distict 1 will be voting. Those who normally vote at Saxe Middle School (Districts 2 & 3) will not be voting in the special election. To verify your district or eligibility, contact the Registrar’s office at 203-594-3060.

Voter registration and verification is also available on line using the state system at: http://VOTERREGISTRATION.CT.GOV.

Absentee Ballot Applications and Ballots are currently available from the Town Clerk. Please contact the Town Clerk at 203-594-3070 for further information. The deadline to register to vote, either on line, by mail, or in person in the office of the Town Clerk or Registrar of voters is 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 10.

There are three candidates on the ballot: Republican, Ryan Fazio; Democrat, Alexis Gevanter: and Independent candidate, John Blankenship.
