The New Canaan Building Department last week received an application to construct an 8,555-square-foot home on Carter St.

The five-bedroom home planned for 85 Carter St. will include five full bathrooms, one half-bath and a three-bay garage, according to a building permit application filed Sept. 21 with the town.
It will cost about $1,085,000 to build, the application said.
The contractor will be a Westport-based limited liability company, 85 Carter Street LLC, the application said. Connecticut Secretary of the State records show that it has the same street address as Barrington Building and that its principal is Scott Barrington.
The architect on the job is D. Peters Designs of Wilton, the application said.
The 2.75-acre property, located in the two-acre zone, was purchased in June for $1.2 million, tax records show.
A permit to demolish the home that had stood there was issued in 2016, building records show.
