Police on Saturday night arrested a 24-year-old Stamford man on minor drug charges during a traffic stop.
At about 7:48 p.m. on Dec. 2, officers stopped a vehicle traveling west on Jelliff Mill Road with a defective marker plate light, according to a police report.
Approaching the car and speaking with the driver, an officer detected the odor of marijuana, the report said.
A subsequent investigation led to the discovery of marijuana and several brands of rolling papers within the vehicle, the report said.
Police charged the motorist with illegal possession of more than .5 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a failure to illuminate a marker light.
He was released after promising to appear Jan. 13 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
