Police on Saturday afternoon arrested a 55-year-old Bronx, N.Y. man and charged him with second-degree forgery, a felony offense, and as a fugitive from justice.
At about 2:45 p.m. on May 27, an officer on patrol stopped a motorist who had been speeding on Gerdes Road near Conrad Road, according to a police report.
On speaking with the vehicle’s occupants and requesting identification from the driver and passenger, the officer determined that the passenger had passed a fake ID from Maryland, the report said.
A name check revealed that the passenger also was a fugitive of justice from New Jersey, where authorities held an active and extraditable warrant, it said. It wasn’t clear what the original charges in New Jersey involved.
Police held the man and scheduled him to appear May 30 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
