Police are investigating a reported burglary on Nursery Road last week that saw more than $4,000 in jewelry, electronics and clothing go missing within a few hours.
A 47-year-old woman reported to police at 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 21 that she left her house, likely unlocked at about 10:30 a.m. and after returning around 1 p.m. discovered that $1,000 in men’s watches, an electric guitar ($200), iPad Air ($600), $1,000 in men’s clothing and another $1,000 in various women’s jewelry—among other items—had gone missing.

Police at 11:23 a.m. on Oct. 23 received a report from a 57-year-old Cross Street business owner that front and back livery plates had gone missing from a Chrysler some time within the past day.

About $2,200 went missing from the office safe of a downtown retailer last week, police said.
It went missing from the South Avenue business’s safe some time between 4 and 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 25, according to a police report.
Between 4 and 5 p.m., an individual who had been working in the office in back came to the front of the store to help.
Police are investigating.

New Canaan Police received a phone call at 8:01 p.m. on Oct. 24 from a man saying he was in the area of Weed Street and Sunset Hill Road and that he was armed, and during the call he made references to committing suicide and said he was headed downtown, a police report said.
Similar calls have been made to other police departments in southwestern Connecticut, officials said.
