Police: Motorist Strikes Pedestrian Downtown Tuesday Morning, Flees Scene

New Canaan Police say a motorist fled the scene after striking a pedestrian downtown on Tuesday morning.

At about 10:52 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of South Avenue and Cherry Street on a reported motor vehicle versus pedestrian collision, according to a press bulletin issued by Lt. Marc DeFelice, the New Canaan Police Department’s public information officer.

Arriving officers and members of New Canaan Emergency Medical Services, formerly known as ‘NCVAC,’ provided medical care to the pedestrian, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, DeFelice said in the bulletin.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital, he said.

Police have no information regarding the suspect vehicle, DeFelice said.

The matter is under active investigation by NCPD, he said.
