Police: New Canaan Man, 52, Arrested After Stealing Bottle of Captain Morgan

Police on Sunday afternoon arrested a 52-year-old Heritage Hill Road man and charged him with sixth-degree larceny.

At about 3:55 p.m. on Aug. 2, officers were dispatched to A1 Cellars Wine & Spirits on a report of a theft, according to a police report.

Police found the suspect walking on Elm Street, the report said.

Following an investigation, police determined that the man had put a 750 ml bottle of Captain Morgan spiced rum in his waistband and left the store, located next to Acme, without paying, it said.

He was charged with the misdemeanor offense.

Police released the man on $250 bond and scheduled him to appear Aug. 26 in state Superior Court.
