Police on Sunday arrested a 43-year-old New Canaan woman and charged her with disorderly conduct.

At about 12:04 p.m. on Aug. 21, officers were dispatched to a Putnam Road home regarding a domestic dispute between the woman and another person at the residence, official said.

Following an investigation, authorities brought the misdemeanor charge, according to a police report.

It isn’t clear what the dispute involved, whether it turned physical or whether the arrested woman is related to the victim. Police withheld details, saying it’s a domestic matter. Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when he or she, “with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person,” among other reasons.

Police released the woman after she promised to appear Monday in state Superior Court.
