Twin sisters Jessica and Liz Arindell are planning a ribbon-cutting at their new full-service salon in downtown New Canaan, Luscious & Co., on April 7, with a grand opening open to the public that will include special prizes, discounts, demonstrations and food.

Planned about one year, the salon at 107 Main St. soft-opened in November and its owners “wanted to save the grand opening for when it was safe to do so, and right when we really started to get going was when COVID kind of exploded,” Jessica Arindell told NewCanaanite.com during an interview Wednesday morning in the newly renovated space.
“So we’ve been putting our grand opening on hold to make sure that we can do it safely for the community, and now seems like the perfect time,” she said.
The salon has already joined the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber’s executive director, Laura Budd, told NewCanaanite.com, “We met Liz and Jessica while they were in the design and build out of their phase for their salon. We could tell right away they were creating something special. We are so lucky that Liz and Jessica chose New Canaan as the destination to open their second salon. It attracts customers from all over Fairfield County.”

New Canaanite: How are you feeling about opening?
Jessica Arindell: We’re just so excited to be here. Downtown community is kind of our favorite, it’s like the heartbeat of every town. And we looked for a space that was very similar to where we currently have our other salon in Shelton that had a very ‘community’ vibe. Everyone was kind of intertwined, and we’re just very excited to be here.
Why New Canaan? What drew you to this community?
Good question. So our salon is in Shelton, and we have a lot of clients that are in the lower Fairfield [County] area that have been commuting a super-far distance for a really long time. Over the past probably two-and-a-half years, really right before COVID started, people asked us, ‘When are you coming closer? When are you going to move another space lower down?’ And we looked for a space for a really long time. And when we found this space, it was just screaming our name. It was in a downtown community, very boutique feel. But the people of New Canaan are very invested in their community. They have the same values that we share. And that’s where we love to take care of one another. We really love to have a strong presence in the community. So we want to put our roots down in a town that supports the same thing.

You’re coming into town just as we have a lot of new residents here, as well. A lot of new families. What would you say to the community about this business? What would you like to tell them about yourselves or what you do?
We really believe that beautiful hair is healthy hair, and that really starts from the inside-out. So we’re very relationship-driven. We want to be here for a very long time. We take a lot of value in taking care of people. That includes how they look, how they feel, how they feel about people that they send here. So we’re just looking forward to taking care of the community, giving them amazing services, really amazing products that they can’t find anywhere else. And making them feel that they’re in their home away from home.

Tell me about what your services are, and you clearly sell products as well.
We have a full-service salon. Standard things like haircuts, colors, things like that, but we also honor ‘specialty basis. And really what that means is we offer extensions. Hair extensions are a huge part of our business in our other location. So we do anything from healthy hair extensions all the way to full transformations. We also do a service called ‘hair rehab,’ which is very popular in our other space. And that’s where we see a lot of people who come to us with damaged hair, dry hair, hair loss even. And we have services and treatments that bring our hair health back into space. We also do bridal services, so bridal hair and makeup. And then here we have a full boutique line of hair care items that are everywhere from affordability all the way to specialty care and everything in between.
We’ve covered a lot. What else would you like to tell our readers about Luscious?
People walk in here and it looks beautiful, and that’s what draws people in. And our goal is really just to make people feel as good as the building looks. It’s a symbol of how we want people to feel when they come here. We’re invested in being here long-term.
