New Canaan Police at 4:29 a.m. on June 29 received a report of a burglary from a Parade Hill Road residence. Items were reportedly taken from the kitchen and a vehicle was stolen from the driveway.

New Canaan resident Steve Haberstroh, whose mother Patty passed away last year following a six-year battle with ALS, was one of eight competitors in a 100-hole match play golf challenge held June 18 at Great River in Milford, raising money to fight the disease. All of the golfers competing had been impacted by ALS (Haberstroh’s two-man team won the golf portion).

Police at 3:14 p.m. Monday received a report of a package containing an iPhone stolen from the front steps of a Weeburn Drive home. ***

The Town Players of New Canaan and Open Arts Alliance of Greenwich are partnering to put on two performances of “Willy Wonka KIDS”—featuring New Canaan residents Teddy and Wesley Benenson as well as Miles and Izzy Langrick, joined by other students from Greenwich, Darien, Stamford, and Norwalk—at 3 and 5 p.m. Friday at the Powerhouse Theatre in Waveny.

New Canaan Police received a report at 8:47 p.m. Sunday of an unlocked vehicle (keys inside) stolen from the Country Club of New Canaan. There are no suspects yet in the active investigation. ***

The Board of Finance during its meeting Tuesday night approved a mill rate of 16.144 for fiscal year 2025, down 14.76% from the current budget year. The amount to be raised from taxation for fiscal year 2025 will be $158.1 million, a 5.27% increase from the fiscal year 2024 amount of $150.18 million, according to a press release issued by the town.
