A 27-year-old Waterbury man turned himself in to New Canaan Police at about 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 on an arrest warrant connected to an investigation that started at the end of May. NCPD had been notified by Connecticut State Police about a vehicle wanted for thefts from the U.S. Postal Service. In New Canaan, he was charged with reckless driving, violating a no passing zone and failure to drive in the proper lane. The man was released on $15,000 bond and scheduled to appear Sept.

New Canaan Police at 7:31 p.m. on Aug. 6 received a report of a vehicle stolen from a Smith Ridge Road home. The investigation is ongoing. ***

Kim Norton, a Town Council member who narrowly lost party endorsement at the Republican Caucus last month (nine votes), received the necessary signatures for a “primary petition” in order to run for reelection to the legislative body as a GOPer in November. According to Town Clerk Claudia Weber, Norton needed 252 signatures to qualify, and “after careful examination,” the Registrar of Voters accepted 306 submitted signatures.

New Canaan Police at 6:24 p.m. on July 4 received a report of a diamond ring missing from a River Wind Road home. Police have no suspects. It’s under investigation. ***

The Republican and Democratic parties in New Canaan held their Caucuses on Tuesday night, setting up the following party-backed slates for the municipal election (as provided by the RTC and DTC, what we’re listing below are elected offices that currently are expected to be contested races in November):

Republican Caucus

Town Council: Scott Gress, Pavla Levin, Arvind Bajaj and Penny Young (incumbent)
Board of Education: Hugo Alves, Julie Toal and Phil Hogan (all incumbents)

Democratic Caucus

Town Council: Hilary Ormond (incumbent); Michael Rodgers, Lina Lee and Heather Russell
Board of Education: Erica Schwedel (incumbent), Josh Kaye and Kate Brambilla
