New Canaan Girls Basketball Falls to Warde

Thirty point losses usually don’t elicit much optimism, but for New Canaan girls basketball head coach Kim Palmer, there were many positives to be taken from the Rams’ 64-34 loss to Warde on Friday night. “We were able to put the ball in the basket against a really good team,” Palmer told “Defensively, we were able to get some really good stops. We never let down, we never hung our head. We moved the ball against the press and run our offense against a really good team. Athletes of the Week: Gracie Castle and Michael Kraus

The Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Baskin-Robbins, Connecticut Sandwich Co., Joe’s Pizza and Mackenzie’s. Congratulations to Grace Castle and Michael Kraus for being named Athletes of the Week. After finishing last season at 6-12, the New Canaan Rams Girls Volleyball team clinched a bid in the state playoffs earlier this week and currently sit in seventh place in the FCIAC at 9-6. A major reason for the turnaround has been the play of senior setter Gracie Castle. Castle led the Rams to a 3-0 win against Trinity Catholic on Tuesday, tallying 12 assists, seven kills and five aces.
