Maureen Murphy Kenefick, 68

March 27, 1955 – April 25, 2023

Maureen Murphy Kenefick, aged 68, of New Canaan; beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died following a brief struggle with brain cancer in her beloved thatch cottage in Ireland surrounded by her family. She was born in Rolla, Missouri, to James Murphy and Maryann Murphy. Maureen was a Registered Nurse for more than 40 years and spent over three decades at Stamford Hospital working on Labor and Delivery, in Case Management and on Maternity. In the last few years of her career she served as a school nurse at several schools in the Darien Public School system. Her true passion in life was caring for others, which was not confined to her work as a nurse.

Robert ‘Bailey’ Stewart, 79

The Stewart family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Robert “Bailey” Stewart, son of Walter Alexander Stewart and Audrey Bailey Stewart, and brother to twin Richard “Dick” Stewart, Walter “Buzz” Stewart, and Linda Brockway. Born on July 15, 1943, Bailey was a lifelong resident of New Canaan, a town that was very close to his heart. While living in the Stewart family home on Hoyt Street Bailey attended Center School before moving to Gower Road. It was at South School where Bailey met his closest lifelong friends, continually challenging each other with their competitive spirits. Bailey graduated from the New Canaan High School class of 1961, where he lettered in 3 sports and won a football State Championship in 1960.

Thomas H. Gillespie, Jr., 89

Thomas H. Gillespie, Jr., a 55-year resident of New Canaan, CT, died on April 25, 2023. 

He was born in Chicago, IL on August 21, 1933, a son of Thomas Howard and Florence Stoker Gillespie, and raised in Kenilworth, IL.  As a youth attending Joseph Sears School and New Trier Township High School, Tom was active in sports and achieved his Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts at the early age of 13. Tom graduated from Cornell University, Class of 1955. He was an active member of the Sigma Phi fraternity in college and for more than 60 years thereafter. Drafted into the Army following college, Tom served primarily in the Signal Corps in the Philippines.  
Following his service, Tom attended the Northwestern Graduate School of Business (now Kellogg), receiving his MBA in 1960.

Reese H. Harris, III

NEW CANAAN, Conn.—Reese H. Harris, III died peacefully in the presence of family on Sunday, April 16, 2023. 

He was a resident of New Canaan, CT. Reese was the son of Reese, Jr. and Dorothy Harris. He grew up in West Hartford, CT and attended Phillips Exeter Academy and the Taft School. He graduated from Brown University in 1958. 

Reese married Penny Fenn in 1956 and welcomed Reese, Ginny and Dorie. They moved to the Midwest for Reese’s work in sales, returning to West Hartford when he joined Fenn Manufacturing Co.

Phyllis Le Blanc

Phyllis Le Blanc died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Phyllis is survived by her doting husband, Roma, and her two sons, Roma Jr. (Karen) and Michael (Jennifer), and her grandchildren, Jake, Mason, and Louis. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survived her. She was predeceased by her siblings, Barbara Bundock and Michael Scaglia. Phyllis was a lifelong resident of New Canaan, Connecticut, and a person of simple taste who knew what she liked and what she didn’t like.
