Nancy B. Cross, 89

Nancy B. Cross of Redding, Connecticut, and former longtime resident of New Canaan, Connecticut, died on December 17, 2022 at the age of 89. Eleanor Nancy Bechert was born on November 24, 1933 in Stamford, Connecticut, the daughter of Fred John Bechert and Emita Mitchell Bechert (Emma).  She graduated from Stamford High School in 1950 and from Centenary College in 1955.  
In 1955 she married A. Reid Cross of Darien, and they enjoyed 57 years together until he died in 2013.  They lived in Stamford, Darien, and New Canaan, Connecticut, as well as Bethesda, Maryland before moving to Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa with their young family. They also resided in London, England. Nancy’s varied career included mechanical drafting, accounting, advertising, sales, and marketing.

Andrea Sylvia Eastman, 83

Andrea Sylvia Eastman, 83, of New Canaan, CT, entered into the gates of Heaven on Friday, December 16, 2022 she was surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born on December 20, 1938 in Buckingham, Québec, Canada. She was the beloved wife of Walter F. Eastman who died December 22, 2004. Andrea leaves to honor and cherish her memory; her children, Joanne Crowell of Orlando, FL, Deborah Eastman of Toronto, Ontario, Dean Eastman of Placitas, NM and Michael Canoro and his husband Fred Canoro of New Canaan, CT; five grandchildren whom she loved and adored, Tim Crowell of Orlando, FL, Michelle Labrador of St. Cloud, FL, Luke Eastman of Austin, TX, Rory Eastman of Placitas, NM, Sofia, Cooper and Carter Canoro of New Canaan, CT; three great grandchildren, Gabriela Labrador of Tampa, FL, Rebecca Labrador of St. Cloud, FL and Kennedy Eastman of Placitas, NM.

Eileen Apy, 91

Eileen Apy, 91, died peacefully on November 29, 2022. She was born on August 2, 1931, to the late Charles and Ellen (Doyle) Nagot. A lifelong resident of New Canaan and member of St Aloysius Parish, Eileen graduated from New Canaan High School in 1949. 
Growing up she very much enjoyed Girls Scouts and continued through the Mariner program. On June 16, 1951, she married John “Jack” Apy and began a family. 
Eileen worked as a buyer/manager at Young Fashions and went on to be the scheduling secretary at Silver Hill Hospital. She was a very active volunteer and over the years was involved with Welcome Wagon, Girl Scouts, Democratic Town Committee and a Member of Zoning Board of Appeal.

Donal C. O’Brien, III

Donal C. O’Brien, III died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on November 24, 2022, after a courageous 10 year battle with a progressive neurological illness. Don was a longtime resident of New Canaan, Connecticut, where he moved with his parents in 1959 and where he returned in 1991 with his wife, Carolyn, to raise their family. He was the eldest child and only son of Katharine and the late Donal C. O’Brien, Jr. He was educated at the New Canaan Country School and the Hotchkiss School, and a graduate of Dartmouth College, and NYU Stern School of Business. After graduation from college, Don began his career in real estate joining the Trammel Crow Company. Over the years, he worked in brokerage, consulting, and asset management at Cushman Wakefield, CBRE, and Heitman Properties (Kennedy-Wilson), where he was a member of the firm’s acquisition and disposition team.

Elinor Seaver Roll, 97

Elinor Seaver Roll, 97, passed away November 26th, 2022 in Fairfield, Connecticut. 

Elinor was born in Tiskilwa, Illinois on March 5th, 1925, the daughter of Dr. Harry and Josephine Brown. She married Howard E. Seaver, an executive at Parade magazine, on January 30th, 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

Elinor raised her three children, Sharon, Pamela, and James in New Canaan, Connecticut. Elinor was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Howard E. Seaver, on December 8th, 1974. In 1978, Elinor remarried Brig. Gen. George A. Roll U.S.M.C. Ret’d and moved to Southern Pines, North Carolina, where she lived for 30 years until George’s passing on September 13th, 2008. 

In 2010, Elinor moved back to Connecticut to be near her children and sister (Janet).
