Julie Ruffin, 77

Julie Ruffin, a New Canaan resident for many years passed away on September 23, 2020 at home, surrounded by her family. She was 77. She was born March 3, 1943 in Stamford, CT, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Gaitwood. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jimmy Ruffin, Siblings; Dana Fagan, Barbara Ann James and Brother Alexander Hart. Julie loved movies, music, art, and especially painting, creating a number of beautiful watercolor pieces which she gifted to friends and family.

Cynthia Mary Franco, 63

On October 13, 2020, Cynthia Mary Franco (née Schlick), loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, passed away peacefully at home. She passed at the age of 63 surrounded by family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Cindy was born on January 1, 1957 in Burlington, WI to John and Patricia Schlick. She studied music at Alverno College in Milwaukee and pursued a successful career in modeling, appearing on both high fashion runways and in campaigns and catalogues. On August 22, 1981, she married Richard A. Franco, Jr., and they raised a daughter, Elizabeth, in New Canaan, CT.

Vincent Luciano, 87

Vincent T. Luciano, age 87, retired New Canaan Police Captain, passed away peacefully in Georgia on October 12, 2020. Vincent was born on November 20, 1932 in Norwalk to the late Liberato and Emma Luciano. He was the beloved husband to the late Marcella Luciano. 

Vincent is survived by his daughter Cheryl Reed her husband Jim of GA, his son Vincent Luciano II of Texas, 6 grandchildren Theresa, John, William, Kristen, Jessica and Allison, his sister Regina Santella and his brother James Luciano of New Canaan. 

Known as Vinny to many family and friends, he was a standout athlete at New Canaan High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp, serving during the Korean War. He was active in the community in many organizations, including the VFW, the Red Cross and Knights of Columbus. He was an ardent patriot and proud American.

Rose Carlino, 91

Rose Ann (Paternostro) Carlino, 91, of New Canaan, CT passed away at her residence on October 8, 2020. She was predeceased by Nick Carlino, her loving husband of 45 years. 

Rose was born on April 28, 1929 to the late Charles and Rose (Fermature) Paternostro.  

Rose was employed as a telephone switchboard operator for over 40 years. She enjoyed travelling, arts and crafts and especially spending time with her family. 

Rose was a dear sister to the late Josephine Sposato, Bernadette Buddington, Frank Paternostro and Mary Maher. Rose is survived by her brother-in law, James Maher, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Frederick Anthony Calitri, 92

Frederick Anthony Calitri, a lifelong resident of New Canaan died at Norwalk Hospital on October 1, 2020. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Triendl) Calitri. Mr. Calitri was born October 27, 1927, the youngest son of Fedele and Concetta (Monticalna) Calitri. He was 92 years old.  

While attending New Canaan High School, Mr. Calitri answered a call to duty, enlisting in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II.
