Ashton Baker winds up a winning backhand for New Canaan Varsity Boys versus Westport.

Here’s a writeup we received on the high-performing New Canaan Squash Varsity Boys team, which continued its successful season with a 7-0 win Jan. 18 versus Staples at Chelsea Piers:

“With the win, New Canaan now has a strong 4:1 mid-season win trajectory, which bodes well for the team’s aspirations leading to February’s U.S. Squash’s National Scholastic team competition in Philadelphia, which draws upwards of 200 high school teams from all leagues across the country.  Senior Captain Jack Sheffield led the team victory with a solid 3:0 win, as well as #1 Sahil Teredesai kicking off with a quick 3:0. Following on were successive wins by juniors Ashton Baker, Jake Donahue, Atma Krishnan and Luke Zinczenko, as well as Senior William Hanover. Senior Lucas Alvarez rounded out the team’ success with a close but determined 5th game to secure a 3:2 win. Next the team heads to play City Squash, Greens Farms, Bronxville and Darien.”
