New Canaan Police at 6:27 a.m. Tuesday received a report of a bag and laptop stolen from an unlocked car on Ponus Ridge. It’s under investigation.

Tickets are available ($20) for a farewell party for 44-year Department of Public Works standout Mose Saccary, who retired last week. It will be held 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 at Waveny House and tickets can be purchased from the DPW on the main floor at Town Hall.

A generous donation from Walter Stewart’s and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce to the New Canaan Food Pantry following the Stroll.

On Wednesday, Walter Stewart’s Market delivered more than $6,000 worth of much-needed groceries to the New Canaan Food Pantry. The funds were generated by the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce’s annual Taste of New Canaan Stroll which was run in conjunction with Rock Paper Scissors Events. More than 150 strollers were treated to tastes and sips from 20 New Canaan stores and restaurants who generously rewarded all those who had donated with delicious samples of food and wine. Walter Stewart’s also underwrote the event so that all the proceeds could be given to the Food Pantry.

New Canaan Animal Control at 11:42 a.m. on Sept. 6 received a report out of a sick or injured skunk on Oenoke Lane. Police euthanized the animal.

New Canaan voiceover actor and 0684-Radi0‘s “intro guy” John Patrick Walsh is the voice of the San Antonio Spurs’ legendary Coach Gregg Popovich in the audiobook of NBA superstar DeMar DeRozan’new bestseller “Above the Noise:  My Story of Chasing Calm.” Coach Pop wrote the foreword to DeRozan’s powerful memoir chronicling his struggle with depression. Asked about “Above the Noise,” Walsh said it’s “an important story of courage and redemption, with an outstanding audiobook performance by actor Aaron Goodson.”

Police on Monday morning received two complaints of tools stolen from construction sites in New Canaan—7:11 a.m. at NCPD headquarters, (currently a construction site) and 8:08 a.m. on Maple Street.

This is the final weekend to catch The Marvelous Wonderettes at the Powerhouse Theatre in Waveny, presented by the Town Players of New Canaan and Crystal Theatre of Norwalk. It’s directed by town resident Heidi Xethalis, who also is in the show (tickets here).

Police at 3:23 p.m. Sunday received a report of a “keyed” vehicle at Waveny, but found that the scratch wasn’t consistent with keying, and closed the case.
