The Town Council during its regular meeting Wednesday took 10 minutes and 39 seconds to vote 11-1 against approving three sets of meeting minutes, raising questions about their accuracy and detail. The only member of the elected body who voted to approve the minutes was the one who wrote them.

Selectman Steve Karl was outstanding as Mr. Lee in “The Marvelous Wonderettes” during an evening performance on Saturday at the Powerhouse Theatre. The show was presented by the Town Players of New Canaan in partnership with Norwalk’s Crystal Theatre. The Town Players on Sept. 29 and 30 are holding auditions for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (show dates Dec. 6 to 13). Audition info here.

Police were called to East Maple Street at 12:39 p.m. Sunday on a report of a cat struck by a car. The animal was euthanized on advice of a veterinarian.

An Easton construction company faces about $400,000 in fines from the Occupational Health & Safety Administration in connection with the death of a worker on Valley Road in a trench collapse last December.

New Canaan Animal Control at 11:29 a.m. on Sept. 13 received a report of a sick or injured cat. The feline is now in the town’s animal shelter, located at the dump.

The Carriage Barn Arts Center will host a free gallery talk with participating artists in its 2024 Annual Member Show. It will be held 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.

NCHS this week announced that six of its 12th-grade students have been named Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Eric Huang, William M. Merritt, Thomas N. Pisant, Tedrah G. Smedley, Daniel J. Yoo, and Alexander Yuan, who have demonstrated exceptional academic talent by scoring in the top 1% nationally on the PSAT/NMSQT.
